Rony, owner of Shorteez Urban Hair Shop in Cornwall, Ontario explains that good candidates for the Brazilian Blowout are...

Rony, owner of Shorteez Urban Hair Shop in Cornwall, Ontario explains that good candidates for the Brazilian Blowout are anyone who have frizzy, damaged or processed hair. The treatment can be performed on every hair type (fine/course/frizzy, curly), as well as hair that has been permed, Japanese straightened and extensions. Therefore, with proper communication and a well considered application, everyone can benefit from the Brazilian Blowout smoothing treatment.

Testimonial
I cannot compliment the bb enough!!! My hair before the blowout was just so awful. After using a flat iron for years, my hair was really damaged and starting to break off in the front. I realized I had to quit using the flat iron and wear my hair wavy, which is a wavy-frizzy. And then I saw the ad in US Weekly and hair life has been wonderful since. I am a huge advocate of this, I wish there was a way more people could know about this!!! Its amazing and I make sure I tell everyone possible and encourage hairstylist to get trained asap! I know this sounds cheesy, but for those of us with frizzy hair know what an impact the bb can have on our hair… its one of the greatest things I have ever been introduced to! Thank you so much to whoever invented the bb, its been a real hair saver, literally!!!

Because of my friend Rony from Shorteez Urban Hair Shop, I now have three degrees of separation from her majesty, the Queen of England. Rony opened his shop for his client Judy Bobka, this seems normal you say… but it was Sunday July 4th at 9 am (a day that the shop is normally closed).
"it's the thought that counts"... make it count big time with this simple yet very unique gift wrapping technique.

You’re going to a party, you need to bring a gift… and you want to make sure it’s original

It’s true what they say, “it’s the thought that counts”… make it count big time with this simple yet very unique gift wrapping technique.

Here is a list of what you will need.

- white or any solid coloured wrapping paper
- tape
- a big bow (preferably the same colour as the wrapping paper)
- a colour printer
- a computer
- label paper (the ones that are a full sheet in 8.5 X 11
- scissors
- pictures of the person who will be receiving the gift or images that relate to the reason of the gift.

Note on picture selection: if the gift is for a house warming choose images of homes, for a baby shower choose baby toys, for a wedding anniversary dig out the pictures you took at the wedding… you get the idea here, the possibilities are endless.

1. wrap the gift like you would normally do.
2. print out on label paper a selection of images, you can have these all in the same or different sizes and cut them.
3. pull the sticker (images) paper off its backing and place these in a uneven wreath pattern on the top or largest side of the box.
4. after sticking the images on the gift you will be left a space in the centre, this is where you place the bow.

As you can see, this is a simple and fun project to do. Kids love this too because they get to see old pictures and encourage discussion on fun times from the past.

Here is a picture of one I just finished creating.

Have fun!

We’re very excited about all these new products now offered at Shorteez.
La Brasiliana’s Dieci! All In One Treatment is a great solution for frizz and uncontrollable hair. A wonderful product with great results.
I decided to make (what I call) my best cookies ever!

I got the urge to bake today, so I decided to make (what I call) my best cookies ever! As the title says, these awesome cookies have tons of good things in them. To clarify, the ingredients are good, but the fat content is a little high, but boy are they worth the extra 10 minutes you’ll be doing at the gym later.

1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 egg
1 1/4 cup white or whole wheat flour
1/2 cup finely chopped pecans
1/2 of finely chopped semi-sweet chocolate chips
3/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp salt

Mix sugars, butter, peanut butter & egg til light and fluffy. Sift flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt, stir-in to first mixture, then add chocolate chips & pecans (only until combined). Take the dough out of the bowl, make a ball out of it and wrap in clear plastic wrap (or parchment paper). Refrigerate for at least 3 hours (this is the most important step in this recipe).

When ready to cook the cookies, heat oven to 375 degrees. Shape dough into 1 1/4 inch balls. Place about 3 inches apart on un-greased cookie sheet. Flatten slightly in crisscrossed pattern with a fork dipped in sugar. Bake until light brown, 10 to 12 minutes. Cool 2 minutes, remove from cookie sheet.

Tps & Tricks: when these come out of the oven you might say to yourself: “these cookies look underdone”… don’t be fooled, these tasty treats still cook while they’re cooling.

Enjoy!

A simple Easter treat/loot bag you can make!

With Easter just around the corner here is a simple treat/loot bag you can make.

You will need:
- Easter print plastic bags (you can get these for about $1 for a 30 pack)
- Jelly beans, mini chocolate eggs and any small candies
- tissue paper
- small pieces of ribbon

The first thing you need to do is create the “grass” for the bottom of the bag. You can achieve this by cutting lengthwise very thin strips of tissue paper with your scissors. If you happen to have a rotary cutter and cutting mat, this will be much faster.

Now that we’re done with the hard part (yes, you read right, that was the hard part), put a small hand-full of the strips of tissue paper in the bottom of the bag, then simply start adding as much (or as little) candy and chocolates as you wish into the bag.

To finish is off, take a few pieces of ribbon and tie the bag closed. And voila!, you have a simple, yet pretty “crafty” Easter treat/loot bag.

I just made 20 of these bags, and it cost less than $16 total in supplies.

Happy Easter everyone.
